Project Manager

The Modern Language Association is currently seeking a project manager to manage CRM, CMS, and web application projects. Reporting to the head of technical project management, the project manager will also help conduct business analysis and implement process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and set priorities
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and budget using appropriate verification techniques
  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Continuously improve processes of cross-functional teams
  • Promote collaborative working relationships with external vendors 
  • Other duties as assigned by the head of technical project management

Required Qualifications

  • At least one year of similar experience
  • Familiarity with both agile and traditional project management methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to organize complex projects using tools including project management software, issue tracking tools, and Google Workspace
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment and communicating across organizational units

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in publishing or education industries
  • Experience managing CRM, CMS, or web application development projects
  • Knowledge of CiviCRM, WordPress, or PHP
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification

 

This is a full-time, hybrid position. The work can be done primarily remotely, but there is a requirement to work on-site as needed at our office in downtown Manhattan. You must be able to work legally in the United States. Annual salary is commensurate with experience, in the range of $80,000–$84,000. The MLA provides generous vacation and sick time, flexible work hours, a 403(b) retirement plan, and individual health and dental plans with minimum shared premium cost.
