Instructor/Assistant Professor

Duties

  • Work in the Department of English and World Languages under the guidance and direction of Department- Designated Leadership. 
  • Support the Mounger Writing Center.
  • Teach courses in basic/advanced composition.
  • Conduct projects and data management along with additional duties as specified by the Department-Designated Leadership.
  • Design and implement academic and professional writing assessments.
  • Assist with the development of competent and committed military officers, but military experience is not required.
  • Support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher (Ph.D. or ABD preferred) that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic Accomplishment (Ph.D. preferred) in English, Rhetoric and Composition or a related field; 2) Demonstrated ability to teach courses in college composition or writing as well as knowledge of writing pedagogies, writing centers and writing assessment designs; 3) Ability maintain professional relationships with outside organizations; 4) Demonstrated commitment to academic research and scholarship; 5) Ability to develop, implement, oversee project management processes and practices.
