Coordinator, Health Humanities Hub

The Health Humanities Hub (H3) at the University of Arizona's College of Humanities (COH) is a new exciting initiative to promote the College’s health, wellness and medical humanities projects and programs as well as collaborations between the College of Medicine-Tucson, the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine and other health sciences’ units at the University of Arizona.

COH is searching for a highly motivated and visionary individual to serve as the inaugural Coordinator of the Health Humanities Hub. This key leadership role will be responsible for developing and managing our programmatic initiatives, and for ensuring their alignment with our organizational mission and strategic objectives.

This is an in-person position with a Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm work schedule. Some night and weekend work will be required.

This position requires residence in the Tucson, AZ area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Partnership Development

  • Collaborate with humanities scholars, medical professionals, community organizations, and wellness practitioners.
  • Foster relationships and networks to promote cross-disciplinary engagement within the Health Humanities Hub.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions with faculty and administration to enhance synergy among stakeholders. 

Grants and Fundraising

  • Research and identify grant opportunities to secure funding for the Health Humanities Hub. Present findings to leadership.
  • Develop grant proposals, in coordination with relevant stakeholders, and manage grant application processes.
  • Cultivate donor relationships and explore fundraising avenues to support the initiative.

Program Development

  • Assist stakeholders to design, plan, and implement programs, workshops, and events within the Health Humanities Hub.
  • Collaborate with faculty and professionals to help create curriculum and research projects at the intersection of medicine and humanities.
  • Assist leaders with development and implementation of program evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of our initiatives. 
  • Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Public Relations and Marketing

  • Promote the Health Humanities Hub Program to internal and external audiences through various communication channels.
  • Assist in the development of marketing materials, including brochures, websites, and social media content.
  • Coordinate and host informational sessions and outreach events to raise awareness about the initiatives.
  • Promote academic programs initiatives in both the College of Humanities and the Health Sciences (e.g. the BS in Religious Studies for Health Professionals; the BA in Applied Humanities with emphasis in Public Health or Medicine; Medical Spanish).

Financial and Business Management

  • Work with leadership to create and manage budgets related to the Health Humanities Hub's activities and initiatives.
  • Monitor expenditures, track revenue, and ensure responsible financial management within UA and UA Foundation policies.
  • Manage department UA and UAFoundation accounts.
  • Participate in the development of resources and materials to support the Hub's initiatives.
  • Work with leadership to establish policies and procedures that align with university and department best practices.
  • Implement appropriate internal controls and effective business practices for the department.

Administration and Facilities

  • Work with COH Building Manager to implement safety program.
  • Work with COH Building Manager to manage facilities issues.
  • Coordinate the Health Humanities Hub's physical space and facilities.
  • On site point of contact for safety/building issues/office oversight.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Adept at working with diverse populations and able to communicate effectively with different levels of technical and professional expertise.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated with attention to detail.
  • Skilled in budget management.
  • Strong ability in project management, partnership development, and program coordination.
  • Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge (and interest) of healthcare, humanities, and interdisciplinary approaches.
  • Knowledge in grant writing and fundraising.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based sites like Google Suite, Box, and project management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Master’s degree in UA College of Humanities' disciplines.
  • Experience with successful grant writing.
  • Experience with donor relationships.
  • Comfortable and skilled in public speaking.
  • Comfortable with technology and navigating new systems.
