Arabic Language Drill Instructor

 

 

The Bi-College Arabic language program at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for a full-time, one-year Drill Instructor position for the 2024-2025 academic year to begin September 1, 2024. Renewal of the position is possible pending a successful review of teaching evaluations and departmental staffing needs.

 

The successful candidate will teach the weekly drill sections for Introductory Arabic and Second Year Arabic, respectively, at both Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. The content of the drill sections reinforces the Modern Standard Arabic syllabus and curriculum planned and taught by the master class instructor, who delivers the lectures. The drill instructor will assist the master class instructor in teaching one of the weekly drill days in accordance with the syllabus and under the supervision of the master class instructor. The drill instructor may teach a conversation class to advanced students in the Spring semester. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, the drill instructor will actively participate in program activities including but not limited to the weekly language table, film screenings and other extra-cultural activities, and the Bi-College academic fairs.  

 

Applicants must have an M.A or higher in Arabic language or a closely related discipline by the start date is required and be fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and English. Applicants should have 2 to 5 years of successful teaching experience at the college level.
