The Department of French, Francophone, and Italian Studies and the College’s Center for Student 
Learning invite applications for a French Language Instructor and Director of the Foreign Language 
Lab, starting August 16, 2020. The Instructor is a renewable position, and during the sixth year 
undergoes review for promotion to the rank of Senior Instructor. The position is benefits-eligible; 
the salary is competitive.

Minimum requirement is a Master’s degree in French with native or near-native command of the 
language, and a professional-level of proficiency in English. Ph.D. preferred. At least two years 
of teaching experience at the college level is required. The course-load for the position is 3/2, 
the position also provides oversight and coordination for the Foreign Language Lab (FLL), which 
includes the selection, training, and coordinating of student language tutors. The Director is 
actively engaged in the work and mission of the Center for Student Learning (CSL) and is present in 
the Lab and at Center functions, such as the monthly Directors’ meetings. The FLL Director has a 
close working relationship with the CSL administrative staff as well as the CSL Director, maintains 
offices in the FLL and in FFIS, and holds regularly scheduled office hours. The average time 
commitment in the CSL each week is about 12 hours. Academic leadership/management experience 
required.
