Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature

Position Description

The University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Literature to begin in August 2024 (renewable for up to one additional year). The successful candidate will specialize in the literature of the eighteenth and/or nineteenth century in any language(s) or from any geographic region(s). Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as part of our B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs in Literature, as well as general education courses as part of the University's Core Curriculum.

The appointment commences for the fall 2024 semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in English, Comparative Literature, or Modern Languages and Literatures is required prior to employment; those with ABD status will be considered at the application/interviewing stage. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.

Preferred Education and Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of college-level teaching experience.
