Tenure-Track: Global Anglophone Literature of the 20th and 21st Centuries, English Department

The English Department at Fordham University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global Anglophone Literatures of the Twentieth and Twenty-First Centuries to be based at Fordham’s Rose Hill campus in the Bronx and to begin in Fall 2025. We are interested in applicants with expertise in postcolonial studies, as well as those who take multilingual, comparative, and diasporic approaches and situate the study of English within a global frame. We especially invite applicants working within and across the Indian Ocean, South Asia, and/or Africa.

Successful candidates will teach introductory literature courses in the University’s core curriculum, as well as specialized courses and seminars for the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Successful candidates may also have the opportunity to teach in a variety of interdisciplinary programs, including Fordham’s program in Comparative Literature.

English at Fordham is a central part of the University's intellectual life, with an undergraduate major in literature, a major with a concentration in creative writing, minors in literature, creative writing, and public and professional writing, an M.A., and a Ph.D. We have a Race and Social Justice requirement for the undergraduate major and a Difference and Intersectionality requirement for the M.A. and Ph.D. programs. We also contribute fully to the University’s core curriculum, which includes introductory and advanced courses in literature and interdisciplinary topics. Our faculty consists of 39 full-time members who are productive scholars in fields ranging from medieval and early modern to contemporary literature, media, and rhetoric, as well as creative writers in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction.
