Description
The English Department at Williams College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in fiction writing, to begin Fall 2025.
Teaching responsibilities include two courses per term with a Winter Study term every other January. The successful candidate will demonstrate promise of continued creative excellence and must be prepared to teach introductory and advanced fiction workshops and courses on literature, direct student theses in creative writing, participate in running the reading series, and contribute to the creative and intellectual life of the department and the college’s interdisciplinary arts programming. We provide faculty with mentoring, including participation in the college’s professional development program, First3, for new faculty, and support through the Rice Center for Teaching.
Williams is an institution that places a high value on undergraduate teaching; consequently, we seek applicants who can demonstrate in their supporting materials a capacity for excellent teaching and a commitment to working effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, and class. To this end, please address in a teaching and community engagement statement how you have approached building an inclusive learning environment, as well as how inclusivity informs your mentoring, research, service, and engagement with the college community.
