Assistant Professor of Modern Korean Literature and Culture, Dept of East Asian Languages & Cultures

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Georgetown University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin in August 2025.

The teaching load is 2 courses per semester, with teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Additional responsibilities include departmental and university committee work, undergraduate and graduate student advising, and other tasks contributing to the flourishing of the department as assigned by the chair.

We are looking for candidates whose work demonstrates an innovative research agenda, ability to help move the department forward with imagination and vision, ability to engage with the broader academic community, and a devotion to delivering sophisticated, accessible, and effective teaching to undergraduate and graduate students within and beyond the department. Candidates with interest in film, contemporary digital culture, and/or modern East Asia more broadly are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in the relevant field is required prior to appointment start date. Candidates must show strong promise of excellence in teaching as well as research.

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $83,130 - $93,485, which represents the full range of anticipated compensation for this position. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
