What We Are Looking For

The Baylor Interdisciplinary Core (BIC) is an integrated, team-taught core curriculum program for students in the Honors College that emphasizes global and comparative perspectives on primary texts in historical context. The BIC seeks to fill two, one-year full-time Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow positions in the Honors College for the academic year 2025-2026, with an anticipated start date in August 2025. A second-year renewal of the appointment is possible and desirable. This is an onsite, in-person position. The selected candidate should expect to maintain regular and punctual on-campus attendance throughout their assignment.

We seek rising teacher-scholars working in (1) Classics and (2) Rhetoric and/or Composition.

During the period of their appointment, postdoctoral teaching fellows will receive mentored teaching and learning training as well as research and publication workshops to support their faculty formation and prepare them for a position in higher education.

Position Requirements:

 

  • Doctoral Degree or Equivalent in relevant fields (Awarded by August 21st 2025)
  • Active Christian or practicing Jewish faith.


Annual compensation is $52,500 plus qualified benefits.

Fellows receive conference and/or professional development funding.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

 

 

  • Workload assignment is 75% teaching and 25% research.
  • Teaching typically involves three courses each semester.
  • Course sequences in which fellows might teach include The Examined Life, World of Rhetoric, World Cultures, and a full listing of BIC course sequences can be found here.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

    • Letters of recommendation from three professional references will be requested of selected candidates later in the review process.


Review of applications will begin December 2, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Initial interviews will occur over Zoom. Finalists will be invited for an in-person interview with the department as well as college and university administration.
