Non-Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor in Korean Studies

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures invites applications for a renewable appointment in Korean Studies to start September 2020. The position will be full-time, Non-Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor with an initial one-year contract, subject to continued renewal with satisfactory performance review. Salary and title to be commensurate with qualifications and experience; the position carries a full package of University benefits. Teaching duties for the position are typically six undergraduate and/or graduate courses per academic year such as, Elementary and Intermediate Korean, or Advanced Topics in Korean Language depending on the qualifications of the candidate and the needs of the department. Minimum qualifications are an MA in Korean linguistics, KFL education or Korean translation, and native or near-native fluency in both Korean and English. Candidates with a PhD, or ABD, will be favorably considered. Candidates should show evidence of commitment to dynamic and effective teaching and demonstrate preparedness to teach language as well as related courses in Korean studies. The applicant should preferably have 2 years experience teaching courses at the college level in one or more of these areas.
