The Department of English and World Languages invites applications for an Assistant Professor/Instructor of French. This is a full-time, non-renewable, term appointment beginning on or about June 30, 2025, and ending May 31, 2028. Candidates will be evaluated according to the following qualifications: PhD (advanced ABD considered) in French/Francophone language, literature, and/or culture or Second Language Acquisition - French; native or near-native fluency in French and English; evidence or promise of excellence in teaching at the college level; commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.

The Assistant Professor/Instructor role entails a 3/3 teaching load and an expectation of service and sustained engagement in scholarly research. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate introductory and intermediate language courses in French and will participate in the development and design of those courses as needed. They may also guide student research through independent studies and/or capstone projects and will provide academic counseling and mentorship to the undergraduate students (cadets) at the United States Military Academy.
