The Department of French and Italian at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Lecturer in Italian to contribute long term to our growing Italian program. The expectation of this position is teaching four in-person Italian language courses per semester (elementary and intermediate Italian). Native or near-native fluency in both Italian and English is required. Ph.D. in Italian or related field by December 1, 2024 is also required. This career-track (non-tenure eligible) position begins in January 2025 and is renewable pending a satisfactory performance review. Department is unable to provide visa sponsorship at this time. Duties and Responsibilities

  • The candidate must be able and qualified to teach four in-person undergraduate-level Italian language courses per semester.
  • Actively recruit Italian majors and minors through service and by co-organizing and participating in Italian program events throughout the academic year.
  • Hold office hours.
  • Attend Italian language instructor workshops at the beginning of each academic semester (August & January), and College of Humanities recruitment workshops.
  • Attend other meetings and events as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a Ph.D. in Italian or related field by December 1, 2024.
  • Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English.
  • Experience in teaching Italian basic language courses.
