The Creative Writing Program in the Department of Literatures in English at Cornell University is conducting a search for a poet. This will be an open search for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, tenured Associate Professor, or Full Professor, with an emphasis in Poetry. Candidates are expected to have a record of distinguished publication, demonstrate excellence in teaching creative writing and literature, and show a strong commitment to mentoring students.
The successful candidate will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Department of Literatures in English and the Creative Writing Program. Other duties include directing undergraduate and graduate theses, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to the creative and intellectual life of our community. We seek candidates with expertise in areas such as international literature, hybrid genre, literary criticism, and poetics. Applicants should demonstrate commitment to inclusive teaching practices, including the teaching and knowledge of literatures that reflect diverse experiences of race, ethnicity, gender and sexuality, and class.
Candidates should preferably have an MFA or equivalent and two books of poetry, one published and the second one at least under contract.
