Job Description:
The Department of English, Theatre, and World Languages at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English/English Education position to begin August 2025. Applicants should possess an earned doctorate in English, English Education, or a closely related field at time of appointment, along with evidence of successful teaching, evidence of scholarship, and commitment to university service. Candidates should have a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English, should hold current secondary teaching licensure, should have at least two years' teaching experience in public secondary or middle schools, and should be eligible for NC public school teaching licensure in Secondary English (9-12) and Middle Grades Language Arts (6-9). The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in English Education, supervise student teachers, and teach courses in the general education program.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in 1) teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: English Language Arts curriculum and methods, adolescent literature, and English Education research methods; 2) advising English Education majors and supervising their field experiences; and 3) developing and maintaining ongoing partnerships with local school districts.
