The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of U.S. Latinx Literature and Cultures in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures. This position will start August 1, 2025:
A tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of U.S. Latinx Literatures and Cultures; Ph.D. in hand by time of appointment. We seek a U.S. Latinx scholar. Applicants should demonstrate native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, an excellent teaching record, and show promise of scholarship. Responsibilities include teaching all undergraduate levels of Spanish language, literature, and culture, including special topics seminars and first-year students seminars in Latinx Literature and Cultures.
We are a 4-4 state institution in Charleston, SC. The department offers a full range of courses in the undergraduate day program attended by approximately 2,000 members of the Corps of Cadets. We also have a robust, faculty-led summer study abroad program in Spain and Latin America. The availability of grants from The Citadel Foundation (approximately $5,000 a year) to support faculty research, presentation of research, and professional development is an attractive feature of academic life at the college.
