The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Rhetoric and Composition to begin Fall of 2025. The successful candidate will serve as coordinator of our first-year writing seminar and partner with the chair to support writing pedagogy within our General Education curriculum. Therefore, successful candidates will demonstrate theoretical and applied expertise in first-year writing instruction and program leadership. The emphasis of the position will be first-year writing, but candidates with secondary interests in one or more of the following are encouraged: digital rhetoric, professional or grant writing, and/or working with linguistically diverse populations.
A Ph.D. in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition required. Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by time of appointment. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students as well as ongoing scholarship in the field of rhetoric and composition.
