Description
The Creative Writing Program at Stony Brook University's Lichtenstein Center seeks applicants for an Associate or Full Professor of Fiction, tenured. Candidates are expected to have an impressive record of publication, with a minimum of two novels or short story collections from nationally respected presses and strong evidence of recognition of their literary merit.
This position carries a 2/2 or 3/2 teaching load of creative writing and literature-based craft courses, as well as graduate and undergraduate thesis direction on two of our three campuses: undergraduate courses are held at Stony Brook; graduate courses are held in Southampton and Manhattan. Creative Writing and Literature is part of the Lichtenstein Center, which promotes the creation of original work primarily in creative writing, film, and television writing. Faculty members with leadership roles receive some combination of stipend and course release.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have two or more book-length works of literary merit from a respected press. M.F.A. (or foreign equivalent) in Creative Writing. Evidence of successful teaching on the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
National reputation as a fiction writer with either experience in faculty leadership or significant service to the literary field. Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, in the classroom and with colleagues.
