The Department of English at Lehigh University invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant Professor of Composition and Rhetoric with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. in English or a closely related field by the date of appointment, with formal training in Composition Studies, evidence of research productivity, and evidence of teaching excellence.

 

Successful candidates will have a background in Composition Theory, with possible research areas including digital rhetoric and composition, multimodal composition, writing pedagogies, and intersections of literacy and culture. The individual hired will be expected to teach courses in Composition studies at both the graduate and undergraduate level, including first-year writing. The English Department is responsible for the First-Year Writing Program as well as a major in English and a graduate program offering both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. The English Department also has a Literature and Social Justice focus, and an ability to contribute to the goals of that program would be welcome.
