Position Duties

 

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Loyola University Maryland invites applications for a tenure-track position in Spanish for the 2025-2026 academic year. We seek a teacher-scholar with a specialization in Spanish sociolinguistics and research experience in heritage speakers and/or US Spanish. The ability to teach all levels of Spanish language and culture is required. Ability to teach courses in Spanish for the Professions is expected. A semester course load is 3/3, including core language, conversation, culture and upper-level courses in the field of specialization. The successful candidate should have experience teaching at the college level. A dynamic research agenda in sociolinguistics is expected as is participation in student and department-related service. Evidence of scholarly promise and teaching excellence required. Ph.D. in hand by July 1, 2025. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required.
Starting date: Fall 2025.

The research statement should make clear how you envision conducting a productive research program at a primarily undergraduate institution.
