Assistant Professor of Fiction and Poetry Writing

The Department of English at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor of English specializing in creative writing with a focus in fiction and poetry. The appointment will be effective August 16, 2025. The teaching load is a 3/3. Candidates must hold an MFA or PhD in Creative Writing by the position start date and have college-level teaching experience. The successful candidate will have significant fiction and poetry publications in literary journals and/or at least one published book of fiction (short stories and/or a novel) and poetry. The individual hired for this position will have the opportunity to teach graduate courses in the Master of Arts in Writing program, undergraduate fiction and poetry workshops, and introductory creative writing courses. The position also includes opportunities to contribute to the production of Waccamaw, Coastal Carolina's award-winning online literary journal, the department's visiting writer's series, as well as Individual undergraduate and graduate writing projects. Subspecialties in Creative Nonfiction, Southern Literature, or Women's and Gender Studies are welcome.
