The Florida State University English Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Composition to begin Fall 2025. Doctoral degree with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service is required. Academic specialty in rhetoric and composition with preferred area of interest in Critical Composition Studies (histories, theories, or methods). We are particularly interested in potential colleagues with research/teaching interests that include but are not limited to inclusive pedagogies, cultural rhetorics, Critical Race Theory, translingualism, and/or queer studies. Preferred qualifications also include at least three years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level, with an established record of mentoring diverse students and a publication history commensurate with the expectations of a Highest Research Activity doctoral institution.

The typical teaching assignment for faculty in Rhetoric and Composition is two courses per semester, including one graduate course per year, with regular opportunities to teach undergraduate courses in our innovative Editing, Writing, and Media track; senior seminars in English; and graduate seminars in both the Rhetoric and Composition core and in special topics. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include leadership and participation in a thriving graduate program in Rhetoric and Composition. Competitive salary.
