The Department of English at Bradley University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Global Literatures. The appointment begins August 2025.
Course assignments may include: core curriculum and English major literature courses in global literatures, undergraduate writing, and literature surveys. Preference will be given to individuals with teaching, research experience, and research agenda in these fields. Experience in digital humanities, sci-fi, fantasy, global Indigenous literatures, and/or eco-criticism is a secondary preference. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to help develop courses related to their specialty, and must have a willingness to engage in on-line instruction. The normal teaching load is three in-person courses per semester.
A Ph.D. in Transnational Literatures, Comparative Literature, Post-Colonial Literature, Global Literatures, Global Anglophone Literatures, or related field is required by the start date.
Qualified candidates should submit:
- a cover letter addressing the qualifications for the position
- curriculum vitae including a list of the number of sections taught for each course (e.g. ENG 240 – Global Literatures—two sections taught)
- dossier (including unofficial undergraduate and graduate transcripts and at least three current letters of recommendation that attest to successful teaching)
- a statement of teaching philosophy, methods and effectiveness
- a research statement discussing intended future research activity
- Information regarding how the candidate has or can contribute to diversity in teaching, research, or service should be provided either within the teaching and/or research statements or in a stand-alone diversity statement.
