Assistant Professor

The Department of American Culture and Literature at Bilkent University invites applications for two positions at the assistant professor level to begin in September 2025. Those with primary fields in American studies, literature, history, film studies, media studies, theater, gender studies, critical race and ethnic studies are invited to apply. Candidates should hold a PhD at the time of appointment.

Applicants should be able to teach one or more of our first- and second-year courses—Introduction to American Studies, Methods and Texts, Texts and Contexts, and the Introduction to American History—as well as courses pertinent to the applicant’s specialty within the range of our third- and fourth-year courses.

As research is a priority at Bilkent University, its support includes grants for conference travel and the possibility of sabbatical leave following the third year.

Bilkent University, located in suburban Ankara, is a non-profit foundation university supported by its own endowment. It is home to a vibrant international community, with faculty members from 40 different countries. The language of instruction across the university is English.
