Assistant Professor of American Literature (Long 19th Century) specializing in Science & Literature

The Department of English and Comparative Literature (ECL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position: Assistant Professor of American Literature (Long 19th Century) specializing in Science and Literature.The Department of ECL is committed to hiring an exceptional teacher/scholar who brings energy and a fresh perspective to their research, pedagogy, and service and who is ready to teach in our Science, Medicine, and Literature undergraduate concentration. 
The appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor with a teaching load of two courses per semester (2/2); faculty members teach one graduate course every two years. The successful candidate can expect to design a range of courses for undergraduate and graduate students, including survey courses, special topics, and research seminars. Faculty at all levels advise and mentor students, oversee independent research projects, engage in an appropriate amount of service, and participate actively in the intellectual life of the Department and the University.
