Candidates will be expected to develop and teach courses in rhetoric and composition, which might include public and scientific writing; cultural rhetorics; and technical writing. We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in educational technology for teaching writing, with a focus on emerging technologies, as well as candidates with an interest in administering a large and diverse Writing & Rhetoric program. The appointment will be at the level of assistant professor with an anticipated start date of August 2025.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach first-year writing, general education, and introductory courses as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate offerings in rhetoric and composition. We welcome applicants from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented on college campuses, especially scholars focused on gender, race, and LGBTQ+ issues, who are committed to diversity and inclusion in their scholarship and teaching and who are invested in doing this work collaboratively with our faculty. This appointment may also contribute to a number of curricular and research initiatives in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the University more broadly, including Communication, Digital Media & Journalism, and the Equal Opportunity Program.

To this end, we ask that candidates include, among their application materials, a separate statement identifying past experience that promotes equity and diversity and/or describing plans to make future contributions to more inclusive representation of marginalized identities and gender expression in the applicant's area of expertise, in affiliate programs, and in the University more broadly.
