One-year Instructor/Lecturer Positions in Italian (eligible for re-appointment)

University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK

The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at the University of Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time position in Italian as instructor or lecturer, starting in January 2025 and continuing for the 2025-2026 academic year. Start date is January 1, 2025. Each semester, the successful candidate will teach three to four Italian language courses and/or upper-division content courses in Italian or English (for a total of 22 to 26 credit hours per academic year) and contribute to the growth the Italian carrying out service as needed, organizing and attending Italian program events. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Familiarity with technology and social media is expected. Review of application will begin on November 10, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. Interviews will be held via Zoom.

Requirements: Ph.D. or M.A. in Italian, Second Language Acquisition, Foreign Language Pedagogy or Education, or a related field that provides expertise in language teaching and learning; experience teaching Italian language to English-speaking students at the college level; native or near-native fluency in Italian; and excellent command of English. Evidence of a strong commitment to innovative teaching and professional development is preferred.
