Saginaw Valley State University invites applicants for a tenure-track position to begin July 1, 2025. By the time of appointment, applicants must have acquired their terminal degree: a PhD with a focus on Creative Non-Fiction is preferred; an MFA with significant publications and teaching experience will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate interest and experience in teaching creative writing courses and introductory and sophomore-level composition, as well as an ability to work with diverse student populations. Candidates are expected to have significant publications in creative non-fiction, an active creative/scholarly agenda, and secondary expertise in another area of creative writing, such as dramatic writing (traditional theater, film, or new media), poetry, or fiction. Teaching responsibilities are primarily in-person, on-campus (24 credit hours/year), with limited online teaching possible. Other responsibilities include academic service, student advising, and supporting the University’s literary and cultural environment.
