Brown University invites applications for up to two 2-year postdoctoral research associate positions at the Center for Environmental Humanities at Brown University (CEHAB). Our goal is to appoint one or two exceptional scholars of the environmental humanities with a specialization in one or more of the following fields; Visual Studies; Science, Media, and Technology; Black Studies; Indigenous Studies; Queer and Trans Ecologies; Climate Change; Global South Studies. CEHAB is part of the Cogut Institute for the Humanities.
The successful candidate will support programming and intellectual vision towards the growth of the new Center for Environmental Humanities. They will teach two courses per year on new and existing directions in the environmental humanities, with potential for cross-listing courses in other departments. They will receive standard benefits and $2,000 per year in reimbursable research expenses.
The center is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
Qualifications
Ph.D. must be in hand by the effective start date of the position on July 1, 2025 or must have been awarded in the last five years. Recipients of a Ph.D. from Brown University are ineligible. Scholars from outside the United States are appointed under J-1 visas (exchange visitors status) only.

You will be asked to submit a letter of application, CV, dissertation abstract, a writing sample, and a list of three recommenders. Your letter of application should address how you might advance a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion through service, mentorship, teaching and scholarship. Finalists will be asked for three letters of recommendation.
