The School of Humanities invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities. Area of specialization is open, but only candidates who are demonstrated digital scholars with expertise in fields taught in School of Humanities (SoH) programs — English, History, Philosophy, and Religion — will be considered. Successful candidates will be expected to apply for major grants to support their work and DH programming in the SoH, and serve in a consulting role for SoH faculty and students working in the Digital Humanities. They are also expected to work 6-8 weeks in summers, for which they will receive a stipend.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1.  Maintain active research and publishing agenda
  2.  Teach DH courses and classes in candidate's area of specialization at the undergraduate and graduate level—including surveys.
  3.  Serve in a consulting/advisory role for SoH faculty and student for DH projects and DH programming as a leading member of the Center for Digital Humanities, as well as apply for grants that support the CDH. This work is equivalent to one course/semester.
  4.  Advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students
  5.  Fulfill service obligations appropriate to a tenure-track faculty member
  6.  Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications 
Ph.D. in English, History, Philosophy, or Religion or related field by time of appointment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Demonstrated ability in multiple DH skills including but not limited to text analysis, mapping, digital exhibits, network analysis, data mining, and digital archives.

Preferred Qualifications  
A record of publication and scholarship, excellence in teaching, and commitment to diversity of service in DH and area of specialization.
