Full-Time Lecturer in Italian
College of Arts and Humanities, School of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures
The Italian Program at the University of Maryland, College Park invites applications for a full-time professional-track faculty position as a Lecturer in Italian with an interest in language teaching and developing innovative curricula. This three-year appointment begins August 23, 2025 with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants must be fluent in Italian and English and demonstrate evidence of exemplary language teaching. They will be expected to teach the equivalent of five three-credit courses per academic year in Italian language and culture, one three-credit course for either of our newly proposed majors, Global Cultures (GLBC) and/or Applied Linguistics for Multilingual Communities (ALMC), coordinate the Italian language program, and advise students in Italian, and either GLBC or ALMC.
An M.A. (or equivalent) in Italian or related field is required. ABD or recent PhD in Italian Studies preferred. Area of specialization is open, with a strong preference for global cultural studies or applied linguistics in a global context. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
