Chairperson of English

The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in English or a closely related field. Area of specialization open. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor, with significant record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of teaching excellence. Required qualifications include proven administrative skills and a strong record of academic leadership, outstanding interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate, interact and mediate effectively with students, colleagues, staff and alumni. The Department is seeking a Chair who will provide visionary leadership to strategically plan the direction and growth of the Department, build upon strengths, and forge collaborations across and beyond campus.

The Department of English has 23 full-time faculty and approximately 15 part-time instructors. The Department offers B.A. concentrations in Literature, Creative Writing, Theatre, Professional and Technical Communication, and Language and Rhetoric. The M.A. program offers three concentrations: Literature, Creative Writing, and Professional and Technical Communication. The Department teaches general education courses in composition, literature, and oral communication.
