The successful candidate will demonstrate full bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English while showing an aptitude for engaging undergraduates in the immersive study of the Spanish language, Hispanic Studies, and linguistics. Primary responsibilities will include teaching both Spanish courses in the core curriculum and advanced classes in the major. Other responsibilities will include supporting students through academic advising and involvement in the national Spanish honor society Sigma Delta Pi, and actively participating in campus life. Additional opportunities exist for on and off-campus engagements, such as participating in the summer-term study abroad in Mérida, Mexico. Although a PhD is preferred, all qualified candidates who are ABD or hold a master’s and demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence will be considered. Rank and salary are dependent on qualifications.
To apply, submit the Faculty Application for Employment with all application requirements, including three letters of recommendation as a single PDF, to Jennifer Pittman, Chair of the Department of Language and Literature, at pittmanj@obu.edu.
