The University of Mary Washington invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of English with a specialization in fiction writing with preferred additional expertise in any one of the following: writing poetry and/or creative nonfiction, professional writing, or literary journal management.  Teaching responsibilities include a twelve-credit course load or equivalent per semester that incorporates undergraduate creative writing workshops, capstone seminars, general education courses, and possibly individual studies. The successful candidate will also share advising responsibilities with department colleagues and will contribute to department and college governance.  Candidates must be able to demonstrate dedication to teaching excellence and high-impact learning in an inclusive environment that embraces diverse talents and backgrounds. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a record of publication in the primary teaching area (creative writing: fiction).   MFA in Creative Writing or MA or PhD in Writing, along with some experience of college or university teaching required.  Applicants should submit an application at jobs.umw.edu with a cover letter, CV, unofficial graduate transcripts, and a writing sample of up to fifteen pages and should arrange for three letters of reference to be submitted.
