Job Description:

Salve Regina University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track, one-year renewable Lecturer position in our first-year writing program beginning Fall 2025. First year writing is a foundational element of Salve's newly adopted writing-enriched core curriculum.

Salve will be launching a new first year writing curriculum in Fall 2025. Our redesigned first-year writing program is committed to providing students with support at all stages of the writing process. We aim to develop critical thinking, reading, writing and revision skills by presenting students with a range of academic writing tasks that engage diverse audiences, media, modalities and genres. Our first-year writing program offers both a single course option (WRT 105) and a two-semester stretch sequence (WRT 102 & 103). Teaching responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load in the first-year writing program. We especially seek colleagues whose teaching practices are informed by the perspectives of historically marginalized and systemically excluded communities.

  • MA or MFA or equivalent in Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, English, or related field at time of appointment.
  • Record of success teaching first-year writing to students of diverse abilities, interests, and backgrounds

  • Use of learner-centered teaching methodologies
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to teach and remain current in the field
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, linguistic justice, diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD in Writing, Rhetoric and Composition, English, or closely related field
  • Research or training in digital and multimodal literacies
  • Academic expertise, research or experience in any of the following areas: first year writing curriculum development, writing program assessment, writing transfer, or integration of social justice and antiracist pedagogies into the teaching of First-Year Writing
