The English Department at Old Dominion University invites applications for a Lecturer of General Education Composition. This is an annual 10-month appointment beginning July 25, 2024 and includes opportunities for summer teaching. We are specifically seeking someone with the capacity to teach writing in ways that harness artificial intelligence (AI) and other digital technologies to prepare students for 21st century professional and educational contexts.
The position carries a 4/4 teaching load, which will primarily include 100-level genre-based composition courses and WAC/WID 200-level composition courses. They may also have opportunity to teach courses in their area of expertise, dependent upon programmatic needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. An earned M.A. or M.F.A. in English or related field by July 24, 2025.
2. Expertise and/or experience teaching English composition.
3. Evidence of inclusive teaching practices in course design, assignments, and classroom management.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Evidence of inclusive teaching practices in course design, assignments, and classroom management.
• Ph.D.-level graduate work or degree in rhetoric, composition, or writing studies.
• Pedagogical interest or experience with AI and/or digital literacies.
• Record of successful and innovative teaching.
