Description

The Department of Literature and Communication Arts at the University of Mount Union seeks a Dissertation Fellow beginning fall 2025 to teach a range of courses in literature and culture with special emphasis on American minority populations. Preferred areas of expertise include African American literature, Black literature, LGBTQ+ literature, gender and literature. Global literature would be a plus. The successful candidate will contribute to the English major as well as programs in Gender and Sexuality Studies, Peacebuilding and Social Justice, Africana Studies, and our general education curriculum, the Integrative Core.

Responsibilities

Applicants should be ABD in English or a closely related field. Recent PhDs will also be considered. This is a part-time, renewable position. Expected teaching load is two courses per semester or four courses per academic year. In addition to a salary, the candidate will receive on-campus housing, a campus meal stipend, an office, a networked computer, and, possibly, access to professional development funds. The fellow is also expected to mentor students and participate in the intellectual life of the department, as well as in the broader cultural life of the university.
