Assistant Professor of English, Nineteenth Century American Literature

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH, full-time, tenure-track (position number 88222) in Nineteenth Century American Literature, beginning Fall 2020; position contingent upon clearance and availability of funding. Duties and Responsibilities: teach M.A.- and Ph.D.-level courses in field of specialization; teach introductory and upper division courses in literature and composition; advise students; publish in area(s) of specialization; participate in departmental and university service; other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in English or comparable specialization from a college or university of recognized standing (ABD will be considered, but all requirements for degree must be completed by August 2020); dissertation and/or publications in the field of specialization; evidence of scholarly activity in the field of specialization; strong commitment to and demonstrated success in teaching and service; and demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially. Desirable Qualifications: Experience and ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: Indigenous/Native American Literatures; Children’s Literature; Chicanx/Latinx Literature; early 20th Century American literature; Global/Comparative Race Studies; and/or Life Writing.
