Visiting Professor of Environmental Humanities
The Department of Environmental Studies at Amherst College invites applications for a full-time one-year appointment as visiting assistant professor of environmental humanities for the 2025–2026 academic year. Areas of specialty might include (but are not limited to) the arts, history, law, literature, non-fiction environmental writing, philosophy, and religious studies.

The teaching load is two courses per semester, with topics and course levels negotiable. Teaching responsibilities also include advising senior honors theses in environmental studies and participating more broadly in the life of the Amherst College environmental studies department. Environmental studies is an interdisciplinary major with students concentrating in the environmental sciences, the environmental social sciences, and the environmental humanities. A successful candidate for this position will offer courses that contribute to our environmental humanities concentration and enrich the overall course offerings of the college.
