Lecturer in Spanish / Catalan

The Stanford Language Center invites applications for a full-time three-year teaching appointment as Lecturer in Spanish and Catalan beginning September 1, 2025. The position is renewable. Applicants should have experience teaching a broad range of Spanish language courses at the college level and possess native or near-native fluency in Spanish with an excellent command of English. Near native fluency in and experience teaching  Catalan is highly desirable. Preference is given to candidates familiar with standards-based instruction and ACTFL OPI and WPT principles, with tester/rater certifications in hand or in progress.

The expected base pay range for this position is $65,000 - $85,000.

Stanford University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree training and field or discipline; department budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications are an MA in linguistics, applied linguistics, and/or Spanish or Catalan language and literature, Ph.D. preferable.
