Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition

The Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition to begin Fall 2020. Candidates should have a record of high-quality teaching and scholarly work in rhetoric and writing studies. The preferred candidate will have research expertise in some combination of the following areas of specialization:

  • Technical communication (UX design and usability, content strategy, and/or social media)

  • Rhetoric (digital rhetorics, rhetoric of health and medicine, and/or cultural and comparative rhetorics)

  • Composition (theory and pedagogy, multimodal and/or translingual approaches)

Writing program administration or related leadership experience desirable.

The department offers doctoral and master’s degrees in the interdisciplinary Rhetoric, Theory, and Culture program and undergraduate major degrees in Scientific and Technical Communication; Communication, Culture, and Media; and English. The usual tenure-track teaching load is 2 courses (6 hrs.) per semester.
